Royal Ascot's underdog heroine Cercene set for bold campaign at home and abroad - starting with a Classic supplementary entry
The Cercene fairytale looks set to roll on, with an ambitious plan being mapped out for the Coronation Stakes heroine that includes a tilt at the Juddmonte Irish Oaks and the Breeders' Cup.
Joe Murphy achieved his lifetime ambition of winning a Group 1 when Cercene denied favourite Zarigana and the 70-year-old trainer is now set to boldly target another, with a supplementary entry under consideration for his filly for next month's Curragh Classic.
The Irish Oaks is over four furlongs further than the mile of the Coronation, but County Tipperary trainer Murphy is keen to roll the dice before Group 1 options at Goodwood, Leopardstown and Del Mar for the Breeders' Cup.
