Gstaad (left) and True Love: declared for the Phoenix Stakes

Royal Ascot winners Gstaad and True Love are set to do battle in the most enthralling two-year-old clash this season after the two Ballydoyle juvenile heavyweights were declared for the Group 1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday.

It is set up to be a compelling round two of a battle of the sexes between the Aidan O'Brien-trained pair after they fought out the finish of a 6f maiden at Navan in May, when Gstaad came out on top by three-quarters of a length on his racecourse debut.

The Starspangledbanner colt maintained his unbeaten record in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, thundering three lengths clear of his 19 rivals in stunning fashion, while True Love put in a similarly dominant performance dropped to five furlongs in the Queen Mary 24 hours later when staying on powerfully to score by a length and a quarter.
