JP McManus to donate €40,000 to charities in sweepstake for JT McNamara Munster National

JP McManus will donate €40,000 to charities in a sweepstake for the BoyleSports JT McNamara Munster National at Limerick in October.
Charities in the mid-west of Ireland can enter by visiting limerickraces.ie or via email at info@limerickraces.ie and each of the lucky charities drawn out will be matched to a horse in the Munster National.
The charity matched with the winning horse will receive a €20,000 donation from McManus, while the runner-up will get €3,000 and the third €2,000. Each of the remaining charities who aren't placed will receive €1,000 to put towards a specific project.
Limerick racecourse will donate 1,500 general admission tickets for the raceday on October 19 to local charities, who can sell the tickets for additional fundraising of up to €30,000.
The Munster National's roll of honour includes dual Grand National winner Tiger Roll, who was successful at 20-1 in 2016. Last year the €100,000 event went to the Eric McNamara-trained Real Steel under Danny Mullins.

BoyleSports will remain title sponsor of the race and of the two-day October festival until 2028.
Speaking about the charity sweepstake, McManus said: “I'm delighted that we have this opportunity through the sweepstake to support the very many charity and community organisations who do so much in our community here in the mid-west.
"I'm very grateful to BoyleSports and Limerick racecourse, who have agreed to the sweepstake taking place in conjunction with the BoyleSports JT McNamara Munster National. I a'm looking forward to what promises to be a very exciting and enjoyable meeting.”
Liam McKee, head of sponsorship at BoyleSports, said: “We're delighted to continue our sponsorship of the Munster National and reinforce our commitment to Irish racing. It’s a race that always attracts a field of high-quality horses and we can’t wait to see how it plays out in October.
"It’s fantastic to see that JP and Noreen McManus are continuing their support of the charitable sweepstake on the race and I’m sure the benefiting charities will continue their amazing work with the generous donations."
