It's on: Lossiemouth and Teahupoo declared for Hatton's Grace showdown at Fairyhouse on Sunday
The clash between Lossiemouth and Teahupoo is on after both horses were left in Sunday's Grade 1 Bar One Racing Hatton's Grace Hurdle (2.40) at Fairyhouse.
Teahupoo has won the contest for the last two seasons, including when downing the previously unbeaten Honeysuckle in 2022, and he will face another top-class mare this time around.
Lossiemouth made a deep impression when winning both the International and Mares' Hurdle at Cheltenham last season before ending her campaign with a win in the Mares Champion Hurdle at Punchestown. She receives 7lb from Teahupoo in the 2m4f contest.
Lossiemouth was an intended runner in last weekend's Morgiana Hurdle, in which her stablemate State Man was beaten by Brighterdaysahead, but was a late non-runner due to a sore foot.
Teahupoo's trainer Gordon Elliott, who has won the race five times in the last decade, is responsible for the other two runners in bet365 Hurdle winner Beacon Edge and Maxxum. Lossiemouth's trainer Willie Mullins has only won the race once in that timeframe, with Arctic Fire striking for the trainer in 2015.
Six will go to post for the card's other Grade 1, the Bar One Racing Drinmore Novice Chase (2.05), with Gordon Elliott sending out Firefox, Croke Park, Stellar Story and Shecouldbeanything.
This comes after the trainer was responsible for all three runners in the Grade 2 Florida Pearl Novice Chase won by Stellar Story last Saturday. This time he will face two Henry de Bromhead-trained challengers in Gorgeous Tom and Heart Wood.
Elliott's Romeo Coolio will be one to watch in the Grade 2 Bar One Racing Royal Bond Novice Hurdle (1.35) after the Champion Bumper runner-up made a sparkling hurdling debut at Down Royal at the start of the month. Stablemate Bleu De Vassy is among his opposition.
Mullins fields five in the race with Royal Ascot winner Belloccio, Gaucher, Plontier, Sea Of Sands and Tounsivator declared. Zeeband and Cast A Spell complete the nine-runner field.
The Grade 3 juvenile hurdle (12.30) on the card will also host the Irish debut of Willy De Houelle, who boasts a high reputation after winning one of his two starts in France. He runs in the famous Rich and Susannah Ricci silks.
