The French 1,000 and 2,000 Guineas are the European highlights from Longchamp on Sunday, with some of the best three-year-old fillies and colts set to take part.

Britain and Ireland will be well represented against a host of French stars and we've taken a look at who the leading contenders are to land Classic glory.

2.15 Longchamp: Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (French 1,000 Guineas)

Cachet

One of the most improved fillies this season, the George Boughey-trained star was a narrow winner of the Qipco 1,000 Guineas last time under James Doyle, having won the Nell Gwyn on her previous start.

She bids to become the first since Special Duty in 2010 to complete the English-French 1,000 Guineas double.

Spotlight comment:Made all in the 1,000 Guineas; the one to beat although disappointed here at two

Rosacea

The leading hope for France, she has been a revelation in winning her last four starts and booked her place in the race when an impressive winner of the Prix de la Grotte over course-and-distance last month.

Spotlight comment: Landed C&D Group 3 from off the pace on return; capable of better and considered

Toy

Aidan O'Brien's sole representative, she finished runner-up on her first two starts before getting off the mark with a comfortable success in a Cork maiden last month.

Despite the jump up in class, she is bred to be a star, being a full sister to Classic winners Gleneagles, Marvellous and Joan Of Arc.

Spotlight comment: Bred for an occasion such as this and could suddenly take off now upped to 1m

Jumbly

A Listed-winning juvenile, she returned with a respectable second in last month's Group 3 Fred Darling at Newbury and bids to give Hollie Doyle a first Classic success in the saddle.

Spotlight comment:Group 3 runner-up on return; bred to relish 1m and could take a step forward

2.55 Longchamp: Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2,000 Guineas)

Modern Games

This star juvenile is a leading candidate on his first start at three, having finished last season by winning a dramatic Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf at Del Mar in November. He bids to give Charlie Appleby and Godolphin another 2,000 Guineas success following Coroebus's Newmarket win.

Spotlight comment:This race has been the aim since the end of last season and has things in his favour

Claymore

Highly-regarded following an impressive maiden win at Newmarket at the end of last season, he remained with Jane Chapple-Hyam and started his season with an encouraging second to Native Trail in the Craven Stakes.

Spotlight comment:Smart and unexposed sort who would have serious win claims but for being in widest stall

Lassaut

The leading hope for France despite having never won a Pattern race. He has shaped well to win two of his three career starts, including in a conditions race over course and distance last time.

Spotlight comment:Exciting prospect who can finish powerfully; big player if able to gain a clear passage

Bayside Boy

Victorious in the Group 2 Champagne Stakes at Doncaster's St Leger meeting in September, the Roger Varian-trained colt finished third in the Dewhurst Stakes and Vertem Futurity Trophy.

Spotlight comment: Leading claims on 2yo form but stall 14 won't make life easy
