The Mackem Bullet made an immediate impact on her first start for Wesley Ward with a wide-margin win at Turfway Park on Monday evening.

Formerly with Brian Ellison, The Mackem Bullet enjoyed a superb juvenile season, going from a maiden win at Carlisle to finish third in the Princess Margaret at Ascot before runner-up efforts behind Fairyland in the Lowther and Cheveley Park Stakes.

She then went on to give Ellison a first experience of the Breeders' Cup with a fine sixth in the Juvenile Fillies Turf at Churchill Downs last November.

That run signified the end of Ellison's involvement, as previous owner Brian Robe had sold The Mackem Bullet to Japanese owner/breeder Katsumi Yoshida.

The next chapter in her career got off to a flying start as she ran out an easy winner for Ward, and she will continue to race in America this season before being retired to the paddocks.
