Shadn put up a battling performance to land the biggest prize of her short career when capturing the Group 2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte on Saturday.

Trained by Andrew Balding for Alrabban Racing, Shadn came with a storming run under Arc-winning jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot to pip favourite Devil by a head with the Tom Dascombe-trained Sir Boris third.

A £42,000 purchase as a yearling, Shadn could return to the sales in December with the owners set to decide whether to keep or sell their three-time winner.

She won well,” Balding said, speaking at Newmarket. “She's been so tough and it was great to get a Group win into her.

“She's got a [Tattersalls] December Sale entry, so it will be up to the owners on whether they want to cash in. She'll stay further next year.”

Shadn has won half of her six starts, including the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes at Newbury, and had been placed at Group level in the Prestige Stakes and Mill Reef Stakes before her victory in France.
