Qatar extends sponsorship of €5 million Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe until 2027

On the day the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe was named the top-rated race in the world for 2021, France Galop and sponsors Qatar announced their partnership has been renewed until 2027.

The deal covers both the €5 million Arc, which remains Europe's richest race by a huge margin, as well as the €1m Qatar Arabian World Cup.

The Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club first took over sponsorship of the Arc in 2008 and at the end of an initial five-year contract signed up for a further ten years in 2012, a deal which would have expired after the 101st running of the race this October.

The new agreement also ties in Qatar's sponsorship of the Prix du Jockey Club, a link-up which began in 2021.

QREC president Issa bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi said: "We are very pleased to announce the renewal of the partnership between QREC and France Galop to 2027 to continue and enhance our sponsorship of the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe weekend, which started 14 years ago.

"It has been a journey of exemplary success and mutual benefit over the years, and we are confident more successes are ahead.

"The long-standing, yet ever developing, relationship between QREC and France Galop is entering a new era with our renewed partnership further reinforcing our position on the international stage as it now comprises the top two thoroughbred races in France."

France Galop president Edouard de Rothschild added: "France Galop is delighted to be associated with such a loyal and committed partner as the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club.

"Together, we have developed the international reputation of the prestigious Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe weekend which, thanks to its high-level sporting programme, is considered one of the most important events in the international racing calendar."

The Arc fought off stiff competition from the Breeders' Cup Classic to regain the title of Longines World's Best Horse Race for 2021, topping the rankings for the 100 highest-rated Group 1 races globally for the fifth time in seven years.
