Prix Robert Papin winner A'Ali set for return to Deauville for Morny
Norfolk Stakes and Prix Robert Papin scorer A’Ali is set for another French foray on Sunday when returning to Deauville to contest the Group 1 Darley Prix Morny.
The Shaikh Duaij Al Khalifa-owned juvenile is also entered in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York next Friday – for which he is an 8-1 chance – but the dual Group 2 winner is primed for France and will bid to enhance the excellent record record of British-trained runners in the 6f contest.
The Michael Bell-trained Pretty Pollyanna scored last year, while Unfortunately, Shalaa and The Wow Signal are others to strike for Britain in the last five years.
Crisford said: "A'Ali is in tremendous form and we’re set to go for the Prix Morny at the weekend.
"He’s been in good order since his Deauville win and has plenty of form on soft ground so it’s not too much of a concern."
Richmond Stakes winner Golden Horde and dual Group 2 heroine Raffle Prize are among five British entries for the €350,000 contest, while Aidan O’Brien has three possible runners including Coventry Stakes winner Arizona.
Just one of the last 14 renewals has been won by a French-trained horse, with the Andre Fabre-trained Earthlight, unbeaten in three starts, appears to be the strongest contender for the home team.
