Robbie Power and Gordon Elliott are a partnership to be reckoned with in any type of Grand National, whether it's over the big fences at Aintree or hurdles at Far Hills in the US, and the pair combined once again to strike in the American Grand National with Jury Duty.

Power, who rode Silver Birch to victory in the 2007 Grand National for Elliott, held up Jury Duty in midfield in the $450,000 contest in New Jersey on Saturday before heading Tornado Watch to score by a comfortable three and a quarter lengths from the Emmet Mullins-trained runner.

Hinterland, formerly with Paul Nicholls, finished a creditable fourth, ahead of the Ben Pauling-trained Jaleo, who was headed after two out.

Jury Duty's stablemate, the Galway Plate winner Clarcam, finished a distant eighth after being eased down following the last flight, while the Charlie Longsdon-trained Hammersly Lake finished one place better in seventh.

Elliott, speaking from the US on Sunday, said: "Jury Duty did it well. It was a good pot and we brought him over as he is difficult to place at home due to his high rating over fences.

"He's going home but Clarcam ran poorly, as he had done on his previous two starts in the US, and he will be continuing his career over here."
