Pointers and trainer views as Aljazzi bids for first Group 1 in Rothschild

With star miler Alpha Centauri not entered this provides a big opportunity for Marco Botti's Aljazzi to grab some top-level glory in what is the first of five Group 1s staged at Deauville over the next four Sundays.

Aljazzi will be attempting the same double as Amazing Maria in 2015 in seeking success here after landing the Group 2 Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Having been second to Qemah in the same race at Ascot 12 months previously Aljazzi has established her liking for a straight mile, and Botti could not be more positive.

"She showed her best form to date at Ascot and we’ve been really happy since," the trainer said. "She was quite impressive there and the turn of foot she showed made it pretty much a Group 1 performance.

"She's versatile, but she won so well on fast ground at Ascot that I hope there isn’t too much rain.

"She's at the peak of her form and we've got Ryan Moore on board, so we’re really looking forward to it."

Tribute Act took a major step forward from handicap company when runner-up at Ascot and bids for a top-level victory to match her sister Ribbons, who won the Group 1 Prix Jean Romanet here three years ago.

Trainer James Fanshawe said: "She ran a really good race in the Duke of Cambridge and that form has worked out. She's really well."

Sandringham rematch could be key

Since the race was elevated to Group 1 status in 2004 the score between three-year-olds and their elders is seven apiece.

With none of the three major Guineas winners taking their chance, the Group 2 Prix Sandringham won by Mission Impassible at Chantilly last month could be the most compelling piece of form among the Classic generation.

Mission Impassible was third in the Prix Marcel Boussac last October but experienced a difficult spring, notably when getting badly interfered with in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches.

Mission Impassible put that right when scoring in the Sandringham, although on that occasion it was the Alex Pantall-trained runner-up Crown Walk who didn't see daylight until too late.

Pantall's daughter of Dubawi got her Group win when scoring in the 1m1f Prix Chloe under William Buick, who is back on board for this return to a mile.

"It was as far as she wants last time so we're coming back in trip," said Pantall.

I felt With You slightly ran out of steam in the Prix de Diane so we thought it was worth trying a drop back in trip. She's very well. Sea Prose was second in the Prix de la Grotte before cracking at the end of the Poule d’Essai. She loves soft ground but ran well on her comeback on good ground at Maisons-Laffitte. Enlighted loves soft ground as well and she had excuses last time and is better than she showed at Chantilly.
