Unforgetable Filly gave Hugo Palmer and James Doyle back-to-back successes in the German 1,000 Guineas at Dusseldorf on Sunday.

After winning the Group 2 WEMPE-sponsored Classic with Hawksmoor last year, the Newmarket trainer repeated the feat with another winning favourite as Unforgetable Filly was sent off 7-4 market leader.

It was a first Classic success for her Dubaian owner Dr Ali Ridha, who also bred the daughter of Sepoy.

Palmer said: "I'm delighted for the owner, who has had Gifted Master for the last three years and has 12 horses with me now.

"She is going to be tricky to place with her penalty for winning a Group 2 at that level or lower.

"The dream would be to add Group 1 form to her CV, and I suppose the Falmouth is the obvious race for her."

James Doyle settled the recent Musselburgh Listed race winner in midfield in a strongly-run mile race and came through well in the final furlong to beat Peace In Motion and outsider Arazza.

The William Haggas-trained Cristal Fizz faded into fifth, while the former Bryan Smart-trained Delectation, the second favourite, never threatened to take a hand from a midfield position.
