While connections of Pyledriver were taking in the enormity of their horse winning Britain's premier all-aged race over a mile and a half at Ascot, Tokyo in November might not have been at the forefront of minds.

But in winning the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes, Pyledriver put himself in line for a potentially lucrative bonus should he take up an invitation to the Japan Cup on November 27.

Already one of the world's richest races on turf at a little more than £5.5 million, the Japan Cup also offers additional prize-money ranging from $3m down to $200,000 to the winners of a qualifying bonus race that go on to finish the race in Tokyo.
