In 2020 plans to celebrate the 25th edition of the Dubai World Cup were floored with less than a week to go by the onrushing pandemic, one of whose effects were still being felt 12 months later when crowds were virtually absent to see Mystic Guide claim the trophy for Godolphin.

There will be a very different atmosphere on Saturday as the 2022 meeting is set to serve up top-level action and intriguing clashes showing off the best form from the US, Europe, Japan and the Middle East; all played out against the joyous backdrop of a full house.

At every turn there is a storyline that compels, while the level of interest among the world's best horsemen and women remains as strong as ever.
