Hollie Doyle and Outbox look to go one better in wide-open Stockholm Cup
Sunday: 3.20 Bro Park
Stockholm Cup International (Group 3) | 1m4f | 3yo+
Hollie Doyle and Outbox must overcome a wide draw if they are to go one better than last year's second in the Group 3 Stockholm Cup International at Bro Park on Sunday.
With three-time winner Square De Luynes absent from this year's line-up, Outbox will be among the favourites to capitalise following his third place behind Zechariah in the Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury last month.
"He ran well there last year and also last time out after a break so hopefully he can go one better," said Doyle, who will be making her fourth trip to Bro Park.
"The new whip rules there are a bit challenging, but we'll just have to get used to it. He's drawn very badly in stall 15. You do jump into the bend quite early on, but he's a prominent racer so hopefully we'll be all right."
Outbox is joined by fellow Lambourn challenger Merlin's Beard, who will be ridden by George Rooke for trainer Richard Hughes.
A strong German challenge is headed by Virginia Storm, who will carry the Arc-winning colours of Gestut Auenquelle, while home hopes could rest with Swedish and Norwegian Derby winner Hard One To Please.
Doyle and trainer Archie Watson have two more chances on the undercard, with Tabdeed running in the Listed Bro Park Sprint Championship and Manitou in the £34,000 two-year-old conditions race over seven furlongs.
Doyle said: "Tabdeed is quite unpredictable but he went close in the Stewards' Cup and is very talented on his day.
"Manitou won convincingly at Chepstow last time and the big difference here is that he will be going round a bend for the first time."
