Dettori, Moore and Murphy among the vanquished as world's best come together
David Jennings was at Happy Valley for the International Jockeys' Championship
The opening leg of the Longines International Jockeys' Championship is worth HK$661,428 to the winner. That converts to £59,638. It is a five-furlong sprint for horses rated between 40 and 60. It is safe to say Hong Kong's hors d'oeuvre at Happy Valley is more about humans than horses – and what a tasty bunch of jockeys they are.
Frankie Dettori is here for the first time since 2011. Ryan Moore, who won the event in 2009 and 2010, is back for more. Recently crowned British champion Oisin Murphy is on the ticket too, as is his predecessor Silvestre de Sousa, while former Irish champion Colin Keane has made the trip over as well.
Add to that illustrious list Arc-winning jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot, Joao Moreira, James McDonald and local boy Zac Purton. And we haven't even mentioned the winner yet.
