Preview: Sweden, Monday

Never one to leave a stone unturned, George Baker's name appears in Monday's Bro Park racecard as he sends two-year-old Suo Gan to the track in a bid to capture some Swedish Krona.

The trainer is always happy to think outside the box when finding opportunities for his horses, and explained why the juvenile is going from a debut at Lingfield to Scandinavia.

"It came about through a great friend of ours, Anna Sundstrom, who runs a stud in France," said Baker on Sunday.

"She has a friend and client who had a horse [Suo Gan] who was ready to go, but couldn't go into training in Chantilly with their normal trainer as the yard was full.

"The owner is Swedish and sent him over here for us to prepare him for this race. The Swedish two-year-old programme is very limited, so the thinking is we can be well-trained and experienced taking on opposition who won't have a great deal of experience."

Suo Gan has been taken away for some racecourse gallops and also has a start under his belt, finishing last of eight at Lingfield last month.

"He was a bit keen on debut and should have learned plenty from that," added Baker. "He's a tough horse who will stay on in Sweden for the summer. Depending on how he goes he might come back in late summer/autumn time."

Baker is the not only familiar name on the card, with jockeys Kevin Stott and Antonio Fresu in action.
