Inspection called at Newcastle but officials confident meeting will be staged
An inspection has been called on the morning of racing for Newcastle's jumps card on Monday, but officials are confident the meeting will take place as planned.
The going is soft, heavy in places, with a check scheduled for 8am should temperatures fall more than expected.
Speaking on Sunday morning, clerk of the course James Armstrong said: "I think we should be absolutely fine, it's just covering ourselves in case temperatures drop lower than forecast.
"We dropped briefly to -1C this morning as the sun rose, and there's just a grass frost and we're completely raceable."
