Prix Rothschild aim for Laurens after injury rules her out of the Falmouth
Five-time Group 1 winner Laurens will miss the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket on Friday due to a minor injury.
But hopes are high that she could be ready to return to action at Deauville on July 28 in the Group 1 Prix Rothschild.
Owned by John Dance, Laurens had been targeted at the Group 1 at the July festival following her sixth-placed finish behind Lord Glitters in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.
However, the four-year-old was not confirmed for the race on Saturday by trainer Karl Burke, who said: "Touch wood it's not too bad, she just has a little niggle to a hock.
"She cantered this morning and she wasn't 100 per cent an hour later. We had a good chat and decided not even to be tempted to patch her up so we didn't confirm her.
"It's disappointing but the filly comes first. I hope she may be ready for the Prix Rothschild at Deauville in three weeks."
Following a landmark three-year old campaign in which she won four Group 1s including the Prix de Diane, Laurens has failed to record a victory in two starts this season, with a second-placed finish on reappearance in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury preceding her below-par Ascot performance.
Seven fillies and mares were confirmed for the Group 1, headed by Group 1 Prix de la Foret winner One Master.
