Injury brings premature end to Riven Light's Australian mission

Riven Light: injured at Caulfield on Saturday
1 of 1

Willie Mullins has confirmed that Riven Light's Australian adventure is over after the five-year-old returned injured following the Group 1 Ladbrokes Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.

Riven Light, ridden by Glen Boss, finished seventh in the 1m2f event and speaking at Newmarket Mullins said: "Unfortunately Riven Light has suffered a fracture to a joint on his off-foreleg and that rules out any possibility of him running again while in Australia."

A five-time winner on the Flat, once at Listed level, and also a winner over hurdles, Riven Light is owned by Rich and Susannah Ricci.

He finished four and three-quarter lengths behind the winner, Gailo Chop, in the Caulfield event.
