Deva Racing owners claim they were sold fictitious hospitality at next year’s Cheltenham Festival by Ryan Tongue leaving them thousands of pounds out of pocket when the syndicate collapsed in July.
Between March 12 and 18, Tongue emailed Deva Racing syndicate members offering them the opportunity to buy places at the Chez Roux restaurant, operated by the “world-renowned, Michelin-star chef Michel Roux jnr” on the opening day of next year’s four-day extravaganza.
The package, Tongue explained, would feature coffee and biscuits, champagne reception, canapes, an “exquisite” four-course menu, afternoon tea and wines recommended by Roux jnr.
