The first 100 days can be crucial for setting the direction of any new administration but such are the issues facing British racing that new BHA chair Simon Cox may have even less time at his disposal.
Cox officially starts in the role on Thursday with the clock ticking down to the budget on October 28, an event that could wreak heavy damage to British racing's income from betting shops.
There are also major issues to resolve surrounding the governance of British racing, not least those caused by the decision of Ascot, the Jockey Club and Taunton to leave the Racecourse Association (RCA) at the end of the year.
