Jump jockey Nick Scholfield, who enjoyed a considerable uplift in fortunes last season, is hoping to be back in action in October having undergone an operation on his ankle.

The four-time Grade 1-winning rider ended last season with 53 winners, his best campaign numerically since scoring 60 in 2013-14.

Last season also saw the 33-year-old land the Grade 2 Leamington Novices' Hurdle at Warwick with Stag Horn, as well as partnering Santini to finish fourth in the Grand National.
