How Tuesday's action could affect the jump jockeys' championship in Britain
Southwell is in the spotlight on Tuesday as Brian Hughes and Harry Skelton continue their fascinating battle to be crowned champion.
Hughes leads the race by one winner (137-136) despite not riding on Monday, while Skelton drew a blank from six rides at Huntingdon.
The crown, which Hughes won last year, will be presented to the winner when the campaign ends at Sandown on Saturday week.
Brian Hughes
Wins 137
Rides on Tuesday 6
Form in last 14 days 10 wins from 53 rides
Odds 2-1 (Ladbrokes)
Hughes probably enjoyed his Monday off knowing his rival had no joy, although he does not appear to have a red-hot chance today.
Onthefrontfoot () and Kensington Art () ought to be in the mix, but Henry's Joy () and Hardy Articos () might have more on their plate. Ottonian () could be his best chance, but Totally Rejected () is another the rider will hope can shine.
Harry Skelton
Wins 136
Rides on Tuesday 7
Form in the last 14 days 13 wins from 58 rides
Odds 1-3 (Ladbrokes)
Skelton was beaten on four favourites at Huntingdon on Monday but could be recompensed at Southwell as Fidelio Vallis () and First Class Return () are forecast to head the betting.
Finistere () is another who appears to have leading claims, although Zero To Hero () was pulled up last time. Just A Deal () could also put a smile on Skelton's face, while White Walker () and Begin The Luck () may help make it a fruitful day.
