The 2021 jump jockeys' championship is set to go right to the wire and Harry Skelton has an excellent chance to draw level with reigning champion Brian Hughes, who does not have any rides on Monday.

Hughes drew a blank at Kelso on Sunday and Skelton, who has six rides at Huntingdon, reduced the gap to one winner with a victory at Plumpton.

Brian Hughes

Wins: 137
Rides today: 0
Form in last 14 days: 11 wins from 57 rides
Current title odds: 11-10 (William Hill)

Hughes seized the opportunity to gain an advantage over his rival when avoiding day two of the Grand National meeting and riding a treble at Sedgefield but he has not recorded a winner since.

It was another frustrating day for the jockey at Kelso on Sunday as he twice finished runner-up, including when denied by a length and a quarter aboard Wakool in the 2m6½f handicap hurdle.

The reigning champion does not have any rides booked today but has six mounts at Southwell on Tuesday.

Harry Skelton

Wins: 136
Rides today: 6
Form in last 14 days: 16 wins from 56 rides
Current title odds: 4-6 (William Hill)

Skelton has relished the role of title challenger with a 29 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight and reduced the gap to one after winning on Gylo in a maiden hurdle at Plumpton on Sunday for his brother Dan.

He was narrowly denied another winner when Aheadfullofdreams was beaten a neck by I See You Well in the 3m1½f handicap chase.

Skelton has six rides at Huntingdon, including short-priced favourites Cabot Cliffs (2.30), Go Steady (3.30) and Stylish Dancer (4.00), victorious on her two most recent starts.
