Hollie Doyle broke her own record for most victories in a calendar year by a female jockey in Britain at Kempton on Wednesday.

Doyle struck aboard State Occasion in the mile nursery to take her seasonal tally to 117 winners, passing the 116 she rode last year. The feat was achieved two months earlier this campaign.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a landmark year and rode her first winner at Royal Ascot when recording her first Group 2 success aboard Dame Malliot, as well as earning a retainer for owner Imad Al Sagar.

"I'm getting plenty of rides so it was great to get the job done," Doyle told Racing TV. "My heart sunk when Eddie [Greatrex, jockey] joined me on the line as I thought the second had done me. I was relieved to find out my filly had just held on.

"I really wanted to reach the record again to prove it wasn't a fluke or a one-off last season. I thought this year was going to be a write-off, so I'm grateful for the way it has gone so far.

"Things have been incredible for me and I've had plenty of support from my agent and Archie Watson over the last couple of years, which has put me on a different platform and to get my retainer because of it has been a great opportunity as well."
