Addeybb, a champion on both sides of the equator, finished his racing career on a high as William Haggas announced the eight-year-old's retirement after a final victory at Longchamp on Sunday.

The Pivotal gelding, who carries the colours of Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum, won the Group 2 Prix du Conseil de Paris to take his career earnings up to £3.6 million, with the final success one of 13 victories.

The retirement of one of the greatest horses in recent years from Haggas's Somerville Lodge stable comes just a day on from stablemate Baaeed – Europe’s highest-rated horse – bowing out after a shock defeat in the Champion Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.
