William Hill have begun the search for a new chief executive after James Henderson paid the price for the bookmaker's faltering online performance.

Henderson, who took over as chief executive two years ago, has stepped down with immediate effect, with chief financial officer Philip Bowcock replacing him on an interim basis.

The company's chairman Gareth Davis said it could take 12 months for the new chief executive to be installed.
