Henderson: 'I'd love Enable to win third Arc - and then the Champion Hurdle!'
If John Gosden and Frankie Dettori need any advice on dealing with the pressure of Enable's bid for Arc immortality at Longchamp next week they could turn to Nicky Henderson, who knows all about what goes with training horses who belong to the racing public as much as their owners.
"What an incredible season John and Frankie have had, I think it's fantastic," said Henderson. "They're just rolling out Group 1 winner after Group 1 winner and with Enable, who just keeps going on and on, they've got what we sort of have with Altior and had with Sprinter Sacre.
"I can enjoy Altior a bit more than I did with Sprinter, although it's still pretty scary. It's not so much the fear of getting beaten, although there was a moment in the Champion Chase I thought we were in trouble, and that would have been a bitter blow actually.
"They're public horses and she is. There is a public attachment, which is less common on the Flat until you get an Enable, who goes on for a period of time and in such an imperious and unbeatable way. I'd love to see her win another Arc."
Should Enable's camp fancy a crack at jumping, Henderson would not mind training her, joking: "I wouldn't worry about a novice hurdle, she'd be going straight to the Champion!"
