Harry Derham: Frodon 'not quite firing on all cylinders' for Altior clash

Frodon's win at the Cheltenham Festival under a never-say-die ride from Bryony Frost was one of the highlights of the 2018-19 jumps season, but those closest to the star chaser believe he may still be a fraction short of that form as they prepare him for Saturday's clash with Altior at Kempton.

The weekend's highlight that is the Grade 2 Unibet Silviniaco Conti Chase pits Frodon in against not only Altior – who is due to begin his recovery mission after defeat to Cyrname at Ascot – but his Nicky Henderson stablemate Top Notch, an intended runner and winner of this race 12 months ago when it was a Listed contest.

Altior was on Monday installed a 2-7 chance by the race sponsor to regain the winning thread, with Frodon and Top Notch bracketed at 9-2.
