West Coast and Gunnevera, second and third to the impressive Gun Runner in Saturday's Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park in Florida, are being considered by connections for a rematch at Meydan in March.

Two and a half lengths behind the now-retired Gun Runner in the world's richest race, West Coast won the Travers Stakes and Pennsylvania Derby last year and heads the betting for the Dubai World Cup with British bookmakers at a general 11-4.

No firm decision has been made by Bob Baffert, who has won the Dubai highlight three times, including with Arrogate last year.

The trainer could also run Mubtaahij and Hoppertunity, but Pegasus seventh Collected is not believed to be on course to make the trip.

However, Gunnevera, a 16-1 shot for the world's second richest race who was 13 and a half lengths off Gun Runner in the Pegasus, remains a possible for the March 31 contest.

Awardee and Gold Dream, fifth and 14th behind Arrogate at Meydan last year, could return for Japan, while Sunday's Negishi Stakes winner Nonkono Yume is also a possible for the nation that won the World Cup with Victoire Pisa in 2011.

A good performance from last year's Japanese Derby winner Rey De Oro in the Kyoto Kinen next week could seal his place in the Dubai Sheema Classic, while Vivlos and Real Steel - the last two winners of the Dubai Turf - are pencilled in for a return on World Cup night.

Vivlos is due to prep for that in the Nakayama Kinen on February 25, but Real Steel will head straight there.
