Last year's champion two-year-old Pinatubo emerged from winter quarters for the first time on Wednesday morning when enjoying a gentle leg stretch on Newmarket's Waterhall line gallop.

The unbeaten son of Shamardal appears to have done well over the winter and was encountering turf for the first time since his triumph in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes on the Rowley Mile last October.

Trainer Charlie Appleby likes to use Waterhall in March for his nicer prospects as it lies just across the road from his Godolphin powerbase at Moulton Paddocks.
