An historic third victory for Enable in the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot justified the decision to keep her in training this year whatever else happens, according to Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to the mare's owner-breeder Khalid Abdullah.

Having become the first triple winner of the midsummer Group 1 with a dismissive victory over Sovereign and Japan, Enable will be targeted at becoming the first horse to win the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe three times, with her final British run coming prior to that at York next month, where Grimthorpe hopes crowds will be permitted to watch the brilliant mare.

Trainer John Gosden praised the sportingness of Abdullah in the wake of Enable’s victory on Saturday, with the 83-year-old owner-breeder having expressed a desire to challenge for another Arc following his star's agonising defeat by Waldgeist at Longchamp last year.
