Griffiths weighs up Ascot and Dundalk options for veteran Take Cover
Evergreen sprinter Take Cover is set to keep racing into his 11th year following his trailblazing victory at Newbury on Saturday.
But first trainer David Griffiths has a Listed 5f contest at Ascot or a trip to Ireland in mind for the ten-year-old sprinter who has won three of his last five starts.
Griffiths reported his stable star to be in great heart after his Newbury Group 3 win.
He said: "He’s come out of Saturday's race really well and we could not be more pleased with him.
"At the moment we have the option of going to Ascot next month as long as the ground does not come up soft or we could go to Ireland again with him for the Listed Mercury Stakes at Dundalk, which he won two years ago."
Grifiths added about Take Cover, who has won 13 of his 40 starts: "He seems as good as ever so retirement is not a thought at the moment. He has won three times this season so far and that is not a sign of a horse wanting his pension book."
