Betway Mersey Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1), 2m4f

Good Risk At All, Elle Est Belle and the promising Walking On Air swerved Cheltenham in favour of this Aintree contest. They take on Ballymore runner-up Three Stripe Life and County-third Colonel Mustard, who head the Irish challengers for Saturday's opening Grade 1 contest.

Poundland Maghull Novices' Chase (Grade 1), 2m

JRL Group Liverpool Hurdle (Grade 1), 3m½f

Thyme Hill seeks back-to-back wins in this race but will have to overturn the festival defeat to Flooring Porter, who makes his first start at Aintree. The JP McManus pair of Champ and Sire Du Berlais will also feature in this top-level stamina test.

Betway Handicap Chase (Grade 3), 3m1f

Cap Du Nord could continue Christian Williams' flying end to the season after landing the Coral Trophy on his latest start in February. He will take on Shan Blue, who will hope to shrug off a disappointing Ryanair appearance for trainer Dan Skelton.

Randox Grand National Handicap Chase (Grade 3), 4m2½f

A field of 40 bid for the biggest prize of all in Aintree's showpiece event. Last year's winner Minella Times is out for more under Rachael Blackmore, while Becher star Snow Leopardess aims to end an unbeaten season with her biggest triumph yet. Last-time-out winners Eclair Surf, Any Second Now and festival scorer Delta Work feature in a contest which always throws up surprises.
