Galileo Gold will bid to get back into the Group 1-winning groove at Deauville this weekend, provided he satisfies trainer Hugo Palmer on the gallops this morning.

There will be no third clash with Sussex Stakes conqueror The Gurkha in the Prix du Haras de Fresnay le Buffard Jacques le Marois on Sunday, but Ribchester, a fast-finishing third at Goodwood, is a likely opponent in Deauville's mile showpiece.

Galileo Gold, winner of the 2,000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes, finished a neck behind The Gurkha and a short head in front of Ribchester in the highlight of Glorious Goodwood.
