Godolphin's rising star Kementari will bid to break Winx's amazing winning run
Australian wondermare Winx will face a new challenge in exciting Godolphin runner Kementari when she bids to extend her remarkable winning streak to 24 in Saturday's George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill.
The Chris Waller-trained mare continued her domination with an emphatic seven-length win in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes this month, while Kementari landed the Group 1 Randwick Guineas.
Kementari's trainer James Cummings said: “We couldn't be happier with him. We've got our feet firmly on the ground about how far behind in achievements and worldwide ratings he is off her [Winx], but nevertheless he's a rising star and this is the main lead-up race that he needs for the Doncaster.”
The son of Lonhro has been an emerging force this year with three wins from three runs, all at Group level, and bids to add a second Group 1 success to his latest victory at Rosehill this weekend.
Cummings added: “He had his main lead-up gallop in preparation for the George Ryder Stakes this morning and I couldn't be happier with the way he’s come out of the Randwick Guineas.”
Winx is 1-10 favourite for the George Ryder, with Kementari second in the market at 7-1.
