Gallops insight on Stradivarius plus a last-minute 2,000 Guineas pointer

Stradivarius was on what looked like a farewell tour of Newmarket Heath when making a first visit to Racecourse Side on Wednesday morning, where he turned up at third lot at 10.30am to work a mile on the Cambridge Road Polytrack.

The town’s most recognisable horse was ridden by the world’s most recognisable jockey (Frankie Dettori) on a mission to find an alternative to using the Al Bahathri gallop which the seven-time Group 1 winner has become bored of.

The eight-year-old is set to make a trilogy of appearances in his final season kicking off in the Group 2 Paddy Power Yorkshire Cup on May 13, a race he won in 2018 and 2019.
