Gallops insight including a 1,000 Guineas hope 'really pleasing' her trainer

An early morning Classic clue

The watered gallop is in the best shape it has been in for nearly a decade according to manager Graham Tregett and Classic entry Bayside Boy made the most of it, kicking off the action from the Roger Varian camp at 6.01am.

Last year’s Group 2 Champagne Stakes winner was last seen finishing third to Native Trail in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes last October and may again lock horns with the Godolphin horse on the Rowley Mile next Saturday.

Smart prospects on show

Varian also put some of his potentially smart three-year-old middle-distance types through their paces, including Subastar, who was seen to good effect under Andrea Atzeni over a mile. The son of Sea The Stars showed he handled the undulations of the Rowley Mile when winning over a mile on his only start last September and is booked in to return there for the Listed Newmarket Stakes next weekend.
