Hawksmoor narrowly loses out as Time swoops late

Trainer Hugo Palmer was denied Grade 1 glory in the USA by a head and a nose on Saturday as Hawksmoor was agonisingly run down in the final stages of the Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Keeneland by Time And Motion and Harmonize.

Winner of the German 1,000 Guineas, Hawksmoor travelled smoothly alongside champion filly Catch A Glimpse until the home turn, when she powerfully hit the front and charged determinedly for home.

Her move was covered by Time And Motion and the two fillies settled down for a head-to-head battle, which Hawksmoor looked to be getting the better of for most of the home stretch.
