Funeral of stalls handler Yarborough to take place on Monday
The funeral of Stephen Yarborough, the RaceTech starting stalls team leader who died following an accident at Haydock last month, takes place on North Humberside on Monday.
The service will be held at Octon Crematorium in Driffield at 2pm. Due to the size of the venue the family have requested only family and very close friends attend. There will be family flowers only with donations to be made to Racing Welfare.
Racing colleagues and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service at York racecourse on Tuesday, August 15 at 1pm.
In a mark of respect to Yarborough, stalls handlers at the Curragh on Monday will wear the coloured caps worn by their RaceTech counterparts.
Sharleen O'Reilly, racing operations manager for Horse Racing Ireland, said: "We were all shocked and saddened to hear about Stephen's accident and wanted to do something to show our respect to Stephen and his family.
"We thought that wearing the RaceTech coloured caps on the same day as Stephen's funeral would show our support from here in Ireland. Our thoughts are very much with his family and close colleagues."
Investigations by Environmental Health into the accident on July 21 are ongoing while an inquest into Yarborough's death has been adjourned until October.
