Can Stoute and Moore complete the hat-trick?

Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore have won the last two runnings of the Glorious Stakes with Kings Fete and last week's King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes hero Poet’s Word. The pair combine again with Mirage Dancer, who was last seen finishing a close second in the Prince Of Wales Stakes at Newmarket.

Red Verdon, Eminent and last year's runner-up Second Step head the opposition.

He’s been a bit disappointing in his last few runs and we're varying the trip out to a mile and a half to try to drop him in, to see if that suits. Last time at Ascot over a mile was a bit quick for him, but there's no doubting that was his best run this season. He's getting back towards his old form and getting back to 12 furlongs could be the key to him.

He ran very solidly at Newmarket, he had to try to make the running and actually he ran very well in the closing stages as well. He's a course-and-distance winner at Goodwood. I think he’s got some versatility, but he seems happier at a mile and a half.

Ed Dunlop, trainer of Red Verdon
I was happy with his last run. He seems in good form but it’s a competitive race. We know he stays well – he was second in the Henry II – but he’s probably more of a mile-and-a-half horse.

Andrew Balding, trainer of Scotland
He's dropping back in trip bit, but I think he's just as good over a mile and a half as over further. He's run really good races the last twice and goes well at Goodwood.

Mark Johnston has swerved loftier engagements at Goodwood this week to run Threading in the Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes and the filly faces five rivals, including Irish 1,000 Guineas fourth Threeandfourpence and the Britannia Stakes winner Ostilio.

Simon Crisford, trainer of Ostilio
He’s remained in very good form since Royal Ascot. We think he's ready to step into Group company and we’re hopeful he can give a good account of himself. He appears on an upward curve and we felt this was the right race for him. He had lots of options, but we bypassed the July meeting on purpose, just to give him a little bit more time.

We've always liked him. We just need to find out if he's one of those Intellos with a bit of potential. He worked very nicely last Saturday.

We were very tempted by some of her other entries this week but this seemed the most winnable option. She’s the top-rated horse in the race, she’s got course form at Goodwood from her maiden last year and if she runs to the same sort of level she showed at Ascot I think she’ll take a lot of beating.

Will a British runner win?

The French have won the last three runnings and Andre Fabre and Pia Brandt, along with German trainer Peter Schiergen, ensure there is again a strong international flavour. The home contenders include the William Haggas-trained duo of Pretty Baby and One Master, Poetic Charm and Di Fede.

She's a Stewards' Cup winner and has shaped well on her last two runs. I'm looking forward to seeing how she gets on stepped up in trip.

William Haggas, trainer of One Master and Pretty Baby
One Master is up to seven furlongs, which will suit her, but is drawn wide. James [Doyle] will have to be as good as he was on Tuesday to get her home. Pretty Baby has been looking for the distance too and should run a good race.

She's in good form. It's a race that suits this sort of filly. This is her level and she won't mind the ground.

She's progressing all the time. She's run well twice in Listed company, especially when beaten a neck again back at Ascot last week. I think the helter-skelter nature of the track, plus the drop back to seven furlongs, will suit.

Aidan O'Brien, trainer of Most Gifted
She seems in good form and the better the ground the more it will suit her.

Clive Cox, trainer of Shepherd Market
This is a step up. She's in good form but I hope conditions aren't too dry.
