French star faces months on the sidelines following cross-country fall

Crack French jump jockey David Cottin faces a lengthy spell of rehabilitation after suffering a spinal injury in a fall at Lignieres in western France on Sunday.

Cottin is currently tied with James Reveley on 63 winners in the race to be Cravache d’Or, a title he has won three times previously.

According to Cottin’s official Facebook account, he was able to drive himself to hospital at Angers following the fall but scans revealed he had suffered three fractured vertebrae, one of them displaced.
