Foxrock, who holds entries in the Randox Health Grand National and the BoyleSports Irish Grand National, will bid to extend his winning sequence in hunter chases to four this season when he faces five rivals in the Tetratema Cup at Gowran Park.

Ridden by Katie Walsh in all three wins this year, the nine-year-old beat star hunter chaser On The Fringe on his most recent start at Leopardstown last month and will have a visor replacing blinkers for the first time today.

His trainer Ted Walsh said yesterday: "Foxrock is in good form. We've made no decision regarding which National he'll go for. The weather will be a factor as he likes ease in the ground and he is 4lb lower in Ireland than in the UK.

"He hasn't been the greatest of travellers in the past and Fairyhouse is close to home, so that's another factor, but we won't be making any decision for another few weeks."

The main threat could come in the form David Christie-trained Maple Mons who racked up a four-timer between November and January.
