Newmarket was on Tuesday coming to terms with the death of former work-rider and groom Donna Price in a suspected murder at her home in the town at the weekend.

Price, who was in her 40s, spent much of her life working in racing, most recently as a full-time member of staff for Hugo Palmer until 2019.

The incident, which took place at a property on New Cheveley Road just after 10.10pm on Saturday, was attended by an ambulance, but Price was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Shortly afterwards, police arrested two men from Newmarket, aged 57 and 50, on suspicion of murder.

The 50-year-old man was released on bail soon after and is due to return on September 1, while the older man was questioned for a further 30 hours before being bailed to report to police again on August 31.

Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses, particularly anyone who was in the area of New Cheveley Road, Cricket Field Road and surrounding streets, who may have seen or heard anything suspicious, to make contact with them.

Any residents in the local area with a doorbell camera or private CCTV are also asked to review their footage, as well as anyone with motion activated dash-cam footage.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Major Investigation Team either by using the online portal () or by calling 101 and quoting reference: 37/43271/21.
