Former racehorses to showcase new talents
A Retraining Of Racehorses parade will take place at Newbury for the first time on Saturday with nine former racehorses showcasing their adaptability at 1pm.
Former Hennessy Gold Cup hero Carruthers will be making his debut in the parade and returns to the scene of his greatest triumph. Also among the line-up is former Champion Hurdle winner Punjabi, who since retiring has been competing in unaffiliated dressage competitions with Rachael Kempster.
Ivan B, formerly trained by Mick Channon, was bought out of racing three years ago and now plies his trade in medium goal polo. The six-year-old has remained as an entire with his owner Martin Glue hoping that he will sire future polo ponies.
They are joined by former Flat winners Amour Propre, Desert Sea, The Rectifier and Mabait, who will all be promoting their new careers.
In 2017 the RoR parades have been generously sponsored by the Peter O'Sullevan Trust.
