Former editor of Irish Racing Post Mullin to join HRI
Jonathan Mullin, the former editor of the Irish Racing Post, will join Horse Racing Ireland as director of communications and public affairs on May 15.
The appointment is part of the ongoing development of the senior management team within HRI and more announcements are expected in the coming weeks.
Mullin, who left his role at the Racing Post last year to join RTE as head of digital sport, said: “I have a great passion for horseracing and thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Irish Racing Post.”
He added: “There are few jobs that would tempt me to leave my current position with RTE, but this is certainly one of them. I very much look forward to joining Horse Racing Ireland and working with a dedicated and committed team. I can't wait to start and greatly look forward to the challenges which the position will bring.”
HRI chief executive Brian Kavanagh said of the appointment: “We are delighted to be able to appoint somebody of the calibre of Jonathan to this important position.
"Jonathan is a very well-known and highly respected figure both within and outside the industry and will bring the perfect combination of experience, expertise and new thinking to the management team. I very much look forward to working with him.”
“Jonathan will join HRI in May and will be responsible for the leadership, management and development of the communications function within HRI, comprising corporate affairs, internal and external corporate communications, press office and event management.”
