While the focus was on the York Ebor meeting last week, Harry Eustace was quietly registering a notable landmark when saddling his first winner in the famous colours of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing.

Eustace recently joined the roster of the prestigious operation and struck with his first runner when Cavolo Nero ran out the impressive winner of a London Mile Series qualifier at Kempton last Wednesday under Kaiya Fraser.

A four-year-old son of Make Believe, Cavolo Nero was trained by Eustace’s neighbour James Ferguson until making the short journey across Newmarket to join Eustace’s Bury Road operation, after Ferguson stopped training last month.
