Four names to note away from the major meetings on December 26
Away from the big-race highlights at Kempton, Leopardstown and Limerick on Thursday there are plenty of other meetings for punters and racing fans to sink their teeth into. Here are four names to keep in mind on a busy day of action.
Progressive since joining Philip Hobbs this year, Jatiluwih remains unbeaten over hurdles in Britain and puts his growing reputation on the line in the Pertemps qualifier at Wincanton.
Owner-rider David Maxwell has made no secret of the regard in which he holds the five-year-old, whose easy victory on handicap debut at Cheltenham last month hinted at serious ability.
Maxwell has invested plenty into expanding his string in recent years and Jatiluwih looks to have everything needed to make him the best of the bunch.
Gary Moore already has an enviable group of young hurdlers this season and Neff has the opportunity to add his name to that list in a novice hurdle at Fontwell.
After getting off the mark over hurdles at the track in October, Neff has run with credit twice when runner-up to two useful types and could be found a suitable opportunity to get his head back in front again.
Plagued by injuries, nine-year-old Jonniesofa would be a deserved winner of the feature Grade 3 Rowland Meyrick at Wetherby for connections, who have also had their fair share of ups and downs of late.
Trainer Rose Dobbin struggled to keep her horses healthy last season but has resumed in much better form this campaign, highlighted by Jonniesofa's reappearance win at Ayr.
Sent off favourite for the Rehearsal Chase at Newcastle, the son of Well Made travelled sweetly before weakening in the closing stages, a sign the run may have come too soon.
He has more to offer off a mark of 142 and remains a staying chaser to keep a close eye on.
There could be a star of the future lurking on the undercard at Wetherby in the shape of Sammy Bill.
Representing the same connections as 2015 Grand National winner Many Clouds, the six-year-old had only had three starts prior to this season without showing signs of star quality.
However, he has took to chasing like the proverbial duck to water with smooth wins at Kempton and Aintree and he will bid to stretch his unbeaten sequence over fences to three in the 888Sport Handicap Chase.
