Fighting again mars Saturday racing with incident at Ascot
Violence has again reared its ugly head at a race meeting, with a fight taking place at Ascot on Saturday.
Although not on the same scale as the 50-man brawl that happened at Goodwood last weekend, the incident took place within the grandstand and involved two groups of men in front of plenty of fellow racegoers.
The fight was believed to be football-related in nature, with two of those involved suffering minor head injuries that were treated on track. While the police were not called to the incident, they were involved with the group when they were removed from the track and on Ascot High Street outside the course.
The track's corporate and racing communications manager, Ashley Morton-Hunte, reported after racing: "Unfortunately there was an incident on site.
"There were six to eight people involved, which is a minority ruining it for the majority, and the security staff were there very quickly."
